HOW TO FIND OUT WHAT GOD'S PLAN IS FOR YOUR LIFE?

HOW TO FIND OUT WHAT GOD’S PLAN FOR YOU LIFE IS?
                               By  Paul McGuire
            You are not here by some evolutionary accident.  You are here by the specific, and intentional plan of God  In fact, God knew you before you were conceived in your mothers womb. “Before, I formed you in the womb I knew you.  Before you were born I sanctified you.”  Jeremiah 1:5
            In other words God knew you, and had a specific plan for you to be here before you were even conceived in your mother’s womb.  God sanctified you, and set you apart for His special purpose before you entered this world.  It does not matter how you were conceived.  Your parents may have told you they had you by accident.  You may have been told that you were the product of a one night stand, or because someone was involved in a casual sexual relationship, and you “just happened” because they forgot to use birth control.  You could even be the product of a rape, and even incest.  But, no matter how you were conceived, in the back seat of a car, or by a loving husband, and wife you are not here by accident/  God planned for you to be here, before the beginning of time!  The manner in which the sperm connected with the egg, may have been in the best of circumstances.  But, you are not an accident.  It is not that God necessarily wanted you to be conceived that way, but God knew you before you were even conceived, and you are here on purpose!
            Everything about you, your gender, race, ethnicity, height, intelligence, natural, and spiritual gifts, where you were born and the exact date, and time were determined by God before the world began.  This may bother you because you may have some kind of physical, or mental challenges that you have no control over.  You may even have a disease, or have been born in what the world would call “crippled.”  I cannot tell you why God allowed that, “but all things work together for good who are called according to His purpose.”
            You have been placed here on Planet Earth for a special purposes, and missions.  There is something that has to be done, that only you can do.  God has given you a number of talents, abilities, and gifts.  He expects you to discover what they are, and to use them.  Also, you must understand that everything you go through in life is for a purpose, both negative, and positive.  Many people rebel at this thought.  They asked themselves the questions, “Why am I so unhappy in my marriage?  Why do I hate my job?  Why do I have so little money?  Why have all these bad things happened to me?  The reality is that you may never get the answer to all of those questions until you meet Jesus Christ in Heaven.  In the meantime, you have to develop a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and allow God to reveal what His plans are for your life.  You cannot discover what God’s plans for your life are, unless you walk in a close personal relationship with Him.  You must read His Word on a regular basis, learn how to pray by simply talking to God, and listening.  You must spend time with other believers in Jesus Christ by being a part of a local Bible believing church.  Prayer, Bible study, and koinonia, or spiritual relationships with God’s people are the way you are going to get closer to God.  In addition, as you read His Word, you are going to want to live a holy, and pure life, and obey God’s Word.  God will give you the power through the Holy Spirit to live as an overcomer!
            You don’t have to live like most people who are clueless about what God’s plan is for your life.  As you develop a close personal relationship with God, He will reveal His plans for your life, and you will begin an exciting advernture.  Does that mean you will have no problems.  Absolutely not!  You will have problems, trials, and temptations in the Christian life.  But, you would face similar challenges if you tried to live your life without God.  The difference is that God will give you the power to go through the difficulties of life
            Read Psalm One, and apply it to your life.  If you live your life according to the principles of Psalms One you can have a blessed life:

 Psalm 1

The Way of the Righteous and the End of the Ungodly
 1 Blessed is the man
         Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
         Nor stands in the path of sinners,
         Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
         And in His law he meditates day and night.
 3 He shall be like a tree
         Planted by the rivers of water,
         That brings forth its fruit in its season,
         Whose leaf also shall not wither;
         And whatever he does shall prosper.

 4 The ungodly are not so,
         But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
         Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

 6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
         But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

            Notice that the beginning of the Psalm promises you a life of blessing. Burt, there are conditions.  First you don’t get you life’s gameplan from people who do not know God, or who are rebelling from His ways.  That means you don’t get your advice from people, media, music, film, television, and education that promote things that God does not approve of.  You obey God, and not man.
            Also, you don’t hang out with people who call themselves “believers,” but they are “scornful,” and think they are smarter than God.  Instead, you take delight in hearing, reading, and studying the Word of God.  You think about God, and apply it to your life all day long, and even in the middle of the night.
            If you do these things your life will be like a fruitful tree which bears its fruit in season.  In other words, your life will be fruitful, and your gifts will be utilized, and come to fruition.  The sum total of your life will be like a fruitful tree.  Your life will not be empty, hallow, lonely, unhappy, frustrated, and like a leaf which withers.  Your life will have meaning, ad purpose, whatever you do ( according to God’s plan ) will prosper!

POSITIVE THINKING CANNOT RESURRECT YOU FROM THE DEAD

THE SUPERNATURAL POWER OF GOD OR POSITIVE THINKING CANNOT RESURRECT YOU FROM THE DEAD!

            It is impossible to live the Christian life!  Absolutely impossible!  You cannot overcome sin, and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit, apart from complete reliance on the Holy Spirit through faith.  The Reformer Martin Luther said, “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith: as it is written the just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17
            The true Christian life is entirely supernatural.  You cannot accomplish anything for God in the power of the flesh, or human energy.  Nothing!  No individual Christian, no church, and no ministry can do anything for God. Absolutely nothing.  The Christian life, and the life of the church can only be live supernaturally.  It is only through the same power that resurrected Christ from the dead that we can do anything for God.  For in actuality, we can do nothing for God, apart from His Spirit through faith.
            You cannot change yourself, anymore than you can resurrect yourself from the dead.  Although, in a very limited sense a life which is based on positive thinking will produce more human results than a life which is based on negative thinking.  But, positive thinking cannot resurrect you from the dead.  Positive thinking cannot cause you to put to death through the power of the Holy Spirit your flesh.  Positive thinking cannot produce conviction of sin.  Positive thinking will not cause you to meet the Lord in the air at the Rapture of the Church, or resurrect you from the dead.  Positive thinking cannot produce any of the fruit of the Spirit.  Positive thinking cannot cause you, or anyone else to be saved, or made holy.
            The reason I am focusing in so precisely on positive thinking, is that it is a very subtle, but very insidious spiritual error.  In fact, positive thinking is “another Gospel.”  Lenin, Hitler, and the “Godfather,” were positive thinkers.  They believed in themselves, and what they could achieve.  But, the message of the Cross calls out to us to receive God’s free gift of salvation in Christ.  It is a call to die with Christ, and our old man, or woman.  It is a call to pick up our Cross and follow Jesus Christ.  The Christian life, and the victorious Christian life can only be realized by placing our faith in the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.  The Christian life can only be lived as Martin Luther said, “from faith to faith.”
            The true Christian life is entirely supernatural.  We can only be Christians, and walk with Christ to the degree that we abide in the Vine, who is Christ.  The Christian life is entirely contingent on faith in the supernatural power of Jesus Christ!  We can only overcome sin, temptation, and bear fruit for God through the power of the Holy Spirit.  We can only accomplish God’s plan for our lives through the power of the Spirit.  We can only win souls, when we realize that we cannot win souls, and the conversion is entirely the work of the Holy Spirit.  We are not “salesman,”for God!  We don’t win people to Christ through an intellectual chess game where we say “checkmate,” and now accept Jesus Christ.  Emotionalism, and the force of human personality is not the same thing as the genuine move of the power of the Holy Spirit.
            It is not that God in his Infinite grace, and mercy may not use our human efforts to present Christ, or answer people’s honest intellectual questions.  This is not a call not to utilize apologetics or intelligent presentations of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  People have honest answers about the faith, and they must be answered intelligently, and rationally.  This is not a plea for anti-intellectualism.  Jesus Christ is Lord of all of life!  Lord of science, medicine, philosophy, politics, economics, creativity, art, sexuality, culture, and so on.  But in the final analysis our effectiveness is totally reliant on the power of the Holy Spirit.  This means both on a personal, and corporate level.
